  • Step 2:Go to Settings.
  • Step 3:Choose the Recovery option.
  • Step 4:Under the Account recovery section, enter your recovery email address.
  • Step 5:Click Save.
  • Step 6:Type your password and click Submit.
  • Step 7:Now, enable the Allow recovery by email option.

If you've given the recovery phone number, ProtonMail will send a text to reset your password.

Add or change the recovery phone number

  • step 1:Log in to ProtonMail.
  • step 2:Navigate to the Settings page.
  • step 3:Click Recovery.
  • step 4:Scroll down to find the Recovery phone number field. Enter your phone number in the field.
  • step 5:Click the Save button.
  • step 6:Enter your account password and click Submit.
  • step 7:Enable the Allow recovery by phone option.

Account Recovery Phrase

If you have enabled the recovery phrase option, you can enter your 12-word phrase and reset your password.

  • step 1:After logging in to your ProtonMail account, go to the Settings page.
  • step 2:Select Recovery.
  • step 3:Turn on the Recovery phrase switch.
  • step 4:A pop-up appears with your 12-word recovery phrase.
  • step 5:Note down the recovery phrase as it is and save it in a safe place
