- Step 1:First, check whether you are having a standard Internet connection on your device.
- Step 2:Open the web browser and navigate to the Gmail login page.
- Step 3:Enter your Gmail login credentials in the required fields and click the "Login" button.
- Step 4:On your Gmail account page, click the Settings icon available at the top-right of the screen.
- Step 5:Select Settings from the pull-down menu and click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Step 6:Under IMAP access, click the Enable IMAP radio button.
- Step 7:Under POP Download, select the Enable POP for all mail radio button.
- Step 8:Make sure you have clicked the Save changes button to save the applied changes.
- Step 9:Click the account logo and select Security.
- Step 10:In the Gmail Security window, scroll down the page and toggle the Allow less secure app button on.
- Step 11:Log out from your Gmail account and close the browser window.
- Step 12:Next, launch the Outlook app and click the File tab available at the top-left corner of the screen.
- Step 13:Select Info from the left-side panel and click the Change account settings button.
- Step 14:Verify the configured mail server settings for your account in the Outlook app.
- Step 15:Also, check whether you have selected the correct encryption with port numbers.
- Step 16:If your computer firewall blocks the Outlook app from sending or receiving emails, disable the firewall.
- Step 17:Restart your computer and check if the mail connection refused error has been resolved.
