Thunderbird Email Not Connecting To Server

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free and open-source email client application that helps you to send and receive email messages. This section will help you to solve the server connection issue in the Thunderbird email client.

  • Step 1:First, make sure that you have the connection settings correctly.
  • Step 2:Recheck the IMAP, POP3, SMTP settings for your email account in Thunderbird.
  • Step 3:If required, reconfigure the mail server settings and check if the server connection issue is resolved.
  • Step 4:If not, restart the Thunderbird email client.
  • Step 5:To do it, locate and click the Help option in the Thunderbird application’s window.
  • Step 6:Click the Restart with Add-ons Disabled option.
  • Step 7:Now, if any add-ons are enabled on the email client, they will be disabled and the email client will begin to restart.
  • Step 8:After the restart process, check if the connection issue in the email client is resolved.
  • Step 9:If not, restart your operating system in safe mode by following the instructions given below.

For Windows 10 users:

  • Step 1:Open the Settings application on your Windows 10 computer.
  • Step 2:Click the Update & Security option followed by Recovery.
  • Step 3:Navigate to the Advanced Startup section and click the Restart now button.
  • Step 4:While your Windows 10 computer restarts, a window titled Choose an option will appear on the screen.
  • Step 5:Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  • Step 6:Once your Windows 10 computer restarts, press the F4 button.
  • Step 7:Now, your Windows 10 computer will start in Safe Mode.
  • Step 8:Perform the prompts displayed on the screen to troubleshoot the issues.
  • Step 9:If the server connection issue persists, check if the antivirus or any other application installed on your computer is causing the issue.
  • Step 10:It is better to disable the third-party antivirus application installed on your computer while performing the mail operation.
  • Step 11:Again, check if the email client is able to connect to the server.
  • Step 12:If not, contact us.
